Combo pots reimagined: Inside the Takii Combo Kitchen

Combo pots are evolving. No longer just a mix of attractive colours and textures, successful combinations now demand compatibility in growth, efficiency in production, transportability and consistency in garden performance. At Takii, we’ve developed a new way to approach combination planting: through the lens of genetics, crop timing and commercial value.

Welcome to the Takii Combo Kitchen

The Takii Combo Kitchen is an ongoing series of tested plant combinations developed by Takii breeders. Curated with growers, young plant producers, and retailers in mind, these mixes aim to reduce guesswork and deliver consistent, efficient results from propagation to point of sale.

Why the Combo Kitchen exists

Many combinations that look good on paper fail during production due to uneven growth, mismatched timing, or conflicting cultural needs. The Combo Kitchen is different — grounded in breeding insight and built for practical success. Each combo is:

  • Genetically designed first – Built on known performance across species
  • Optimised for production – Synchronized growth rates and crop timing
  • Tested for retail – Our combos are resilient, long-flowering and transport-tolerant

The Combo Kitchen method

We start with performance, not just appearance. Each combination is developed with three key factors in mind — ensuring that what looks good on paper also works in practice:

  • Breeder insight – Selecting genetically compatible seed-raised varieties
  • Market awareness – Shelf life, colour trends, seasonal timing
  • Grower practicality – Aligned crop cycles, habits, and input needs

Three combinations to inspire you

No single combination fits every environment or market. That’s why the Combo Kitchen is designed to inspire — not prescribe.

Use these examples as a starting point. Adapt them to your climate, facilities, and customer needs. Whether you're adjusting crop timing, responding to regional demand, or exploring a fresh retail look, we’re here to collaborate and co-create combinations that work for you.
